Background Technology

The traditional electroplating production line structure includes: an electroplating tank and an anode and cathode located above the tank. The anode is connected to the positive terminal of a high-frequency rectifier, and the cathode is connected to the negative terminal. The electroplating tank contains the electroplating solution. Taking silver plating as an example: Traditionally, during electroplating, the operator first calculates the operating current of the high-frequency rectifier based on the volume of the workpiece. Then, while hanging the workpiece on the cathode, a silver plate is simultaneously hung on the anode to ensure the conductive area of ​​the anode and to replenish the silver ions in the electroplating solution. The disadvantages of traditional electroplating production lines are as follows:

• During the electroplating process, the silver plate is gradually consumed and becomes smaller, resulting in a smaller conductive area of the anode plate. An excessively small conductive area leads to increased voltage and reduced current efficiency, consequently reducing production efficiency and causing anode passivation.
• During electroplating, silver ions in the plating solution are continuously consumed, and with the consumption of silver plates in the anode, the replenishment of silver ions in the plating solution becomes insufficient. Therefore, during the electroplating process, potassium silver cyanide needs to be added frequently and manually to maintain the concentration of silver ions in the plating solution within a certain range. This is not only cumbersome to operate but also makes it difficult to achieve consistent quality of the electroplated workpieces.
• To ensure the anode plate area, a large amount of silver plates needs to be added (e.g., in a 7000L electroplating tank, 200KG or more of silver plates are needed during normal production, while the daily consumption is only about 10KG), placing significant operating cost pressure on production enterprises and causing capital tied up.
• Uneven distribution of silver ions results in the plating layer of workpieces closer to the silver plate being thicker than that of workpieces farther away from the silver plate. To solve the above problems,

we have independently developed a precious metal ion intelligent exchanger!

Electroplating process improvements:

• The traditional silver-coated anode in the electroplating tank is replaced with insoluble and highly conductive 316L stainless steel!
• The equipment automatically detects the total power current used for electroplating and operates automatically in real time according to the set current, intelligently adding the required precious metal silver salts for electroplating!

Advantages of this precious metal ion intelligent exchanger, electroplating production line, and electroplating process:

• During the electroplating process, the precious metal ion exchanger automatically replenishes the electroplating tank with potassium silver cyanide, eliminating the need for a silver plate in the anode area. A stainless steel plate is used instead, ensuring the anode area remains the same and providing stable current for electroplating. This prevents problems such as voltage increases, reduced current efficiency, decreased production speed, and impacts on production progress or anode passivation caused by an excessively small anode area.
• Frequent manual addition of potassium silver cyanide is eliminated, simplifying operation. The exchanger automatically adds potassium silver cyanide in real-time, on demand, and the electroplating solution circulates rapidly, resulting in more uniform silver ion distribution and better consistency in the quality of electroplated workpieces.
• Only the actual amount of silver plate consumed needs to be added to the precious metal ion exchanger, reducing operating costs and capital tied up in inventory for manufacturers.
